Real Madrid secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League. The win moves Madrid to eighth place in the 36-team league with six points from two matches. Roma remain in 25th position with a single point after two games, reflecting their ongoing struggle to find consistency at this level.
The match saw Roma take a commanding lead before Real Madrid mounted a stunning comeback to win 4-3. Donyell Malen netted twice for the hosts, putting them ahead, but Endrick emerged as the hero with the decisive goal to earn UEFA Man of the Match honors.
AS Roma entered the fixture with a recent form of LDDWD, featuring draws against Inter and Fenerbahçe alongside a win over Torino. Real Madrid, by contrast, showed strong form with WWLWW, despite one defeat to Atletico Madrid in their last five outings.
This outcome reversed AS Roma's recent sequence of draws, resulting in a loss instead. For Real Madrid, it continued their positive run, building on the strong form that included multiple wins in their preceding matches. The late turnaround highlighted their ability to thrive under pressure in crucial Champions League fixtures.
Jose Mourinho remarked that Roma believed the game was dead after leading 3-1, yet their players appeared spent. Vinicius Junior noted his initial disappointment at being substituted but praised Endrick for altering the game's course in the second half.
Malen's impressive scoring record continues, with 23 goals since his January debut for Roma, ranking him third among big-five league strikers. Vinicius expressed hope that Endrick will keep developing after his impactful cameo.
