Aston Villa delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Champions League that lifted them to third place with six points from two games. Fenerbahçe remain 28th with a single point after two matches. The result stands as their biggest win in major European competition and the first time they have scored six goals in a single European fixture.
Villa struck three times before the interval, underlining their clinical start to the campaign. They became the first side alongside PSG to achieve that feat across their opening two Champions League matches this season. The scale of the win also set a new benchmark for Unai Emery across all competitions.
Villa arrived in excellent form with a WDWWW sequence that featured victories over Sevilla, Tottenham and Coventry. Fenerbahçe entered on LWWWD after a domestic win and draw but were unable to replicate that resilience on the European stage.
The emphatic scoreline extended Villa’s strong momentum rather than interrupting it. Five of the goals came from ex-Chelsea players, adding another layer to the dominant display that left supporters calling for man-of-the-match verdicts.
The result leaves Villa ideally placed after two rounds while Fenerbahçe must regroup quickly to climb the table. Early signs suggest Villa’s attacking depth could carry them far in the competition.
